common between getting X rays and getting cancer, there is certain risk
of getting cancer and has been proved by some of the leading scientists.
So there have been discussions regarding the risks and benefits of the
modern systems are they really safe or not. Especially in the fields of
computer tomography there are being seen cases in which the reports of
cancer are getting more common to patients who are over exposed to the
radiations.
It is possible that from a few decades from now about 2.5% cancers in
United States can be linked to the administration of the X rays for diagnoses

huge amount of pain and defects in subsequent generations. Some of the
radiations are also responsible for genetic defects and aggravates such
conditions to a huge extent.
There have been studies revealing that some of the radiations have direct
relations with cancer. Radiation is a type of carcinogen and can induce
cancer if exposed to a certain amount, this tolerance being higher in
animals and highest in one of the lowly cockroach leaves us very vulnerable
to it. The chances of getting cancer start when any one is exposed to
radiation with exposure level of 60 milliseverts (common unit in measuring
medical treatments) or high, even repeated low doses can cause similar
damage. This is about many times higher than the ones which are being
used in current medical exams. But all these numbers are too be taken
great care of, scientist are trying to get a level of radiation which
is enough for measurement as well as well within the safe limits for the
human body.
Most of this information is based on linear-non threshold dose-respond
model, which is similar to plotting level of radiation on X axis of a
graph and risk on y axis, so we can compare as the radiation levels increase
how much risks are also increasing. But some are also considering that
below a certain level there is no such risk or hazard to the health. Also
multiple exposure of X rays in certain individual may trigger the onset
of cancer in women such as breast cancer and is very much seen today,
so use of X rays should be made as less as possible. So consider the options
and the benefit to risk ratio in getting X rays or getting exposed to
similar radiations in CT scans.
